Carrie Jean Rogers

September 22, 1942 — July 24, 2022

Carrie Gordon Rogers, 79, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2022. Carrie was born on September 22, 1942 in Mecklenburg County, the eldest daughter of the late Thomas Douglas Gordon and Eva Moore Gordon. She is preceded in death by her son, Frank Rogers Jr. (Del) and her brother, Doug Gordon.

Carrie Jean was a 1960 graduate of Waxhaw High School, where she met the love of her life, Frank Rogers. She was active in high school: playing basketball, serving as Class President and Treasurer, and in various clubs. She also served as a Homecoming Court attendant and the Waxhaw High School Carrousel Princess.

Carrie and Frank married right after graduation; they recently celebrated 62 years of marriage on July 23, 2022.

Carrie had a varied working career. She was employed by Southern Bell, Waxhaw Elementary School, American Bank and Trust Company (BB&T), and Dr. Robert L. Brooks, DDS. In 1977, she and Frank purchased Auto, Truck, & Tractor Parts Company, Inc. This was the beginning of their adventure into the automotive parts industry. Carrie served as Frank’s sounding board and administrative assistant, until her retirement in 2000. Carrie greatly enjoyed her retirement working in her flower and rock gardens, spending time with her loving husband and ever-growing family, and traveling.

She was also heavily involved in the community, serving as President of the Waxhaw Woman’s Club and Treasurer of the Scottish Society of the Waxhaws, among various other groups. Her deepest dedication however, was to Waxhaw United Methodist Church and her beloved church family.

Carrie is survived by her loving husband Frank Murphy Rogers, Sr., her children: Chris Strawn (Lynn), Carmen Shaffer, and Damon Rogers, daughter-in-law Martha Rogers, her brother Mike Gordon (Ann), sister Nancy Bigham (Don), grandchildren: Jesilyn Strawn, Brian Rogers, Zachary Rogers, Caitlin Strawn, Emily Shaffer, and Mary Warren Rogers, and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm Saturday, July 30, 2022 at Waxhaw United Methodist Church, 200 McDonald Street, Waxhaw NC 28173. The family will receive friends and loved ones from 10:00 am until 11:45 am prior to the service in the fellowship hall. Burial will follow the service in the Waxhaw City Cemetery.
