Carrie Lee Walker

Carrie Lee Blakeney Walker was born on October 18, 1934 in Chesterfield County, SC to the late Robert Blakeney and Flossie Lowery Blakeney. She was married to the late Jason James Walker. She was a lifelong member of Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Tradesville, SC. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. To some she was called Carrie, to her five children, and many others she helped raise, she was called Momma, to her 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, she was grandma, the Matriarch. She was the giver of abundant and selfless love. She never met a child she didn’t love. A funeral service will be held at 1:00PM, Saturday, July 24, 2021 at Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 6507 Shiloh Unity Rd, Lancaster, SC, 29720. Mrs. Walker will lie in state for one hour prior to the service. Family and friends may drop by Gordon Funeral Service at 1904 Lancaster Ave, Monroe, NC 28112 from 12:00noon until 5:30PM on Friday, July 23, 2021 for a public viewing. A Wake will follow from 6:00PM until 7:00PM, the family will receive friends following the wake. Mrs. Walker was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, Kenneth Walker,(Lavern) five brothers, John Paul “JP” Blakeney, Grady Blakeney, Robert Haywood Blakeney, William “Bill” Blakeney, and Bradford Neal Blakeney; five sisters, Betty Lou Blakeney Wynn, Peggy “Susie” Blakeney Health, Sally Blakeney Byrd, Selwyn “Darlene” Blakeney and Arleavia “Leavie” Blakeney Walker; one grandson Kendrick Walker and one great-granddaughter Taylor Smith. She leaves to cherish her memories, two sons, John Walker (Juilie) of Monroe and Benjamin Walker (Pat) of Augusta, Georgia, two daughters, Mary Ann Walker (Rob) of Monroe, and Carolyn Sturdivant (Willis) of Wingate, a sister Annie Lee Blakeney, 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends.
