Mr. Charles Augustus Griffin, 89, of Monroe, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2015, at his residence. He was born December 31, 1925, in Union County, NC, son of the late Hazel Griffin and Loma Shuman Griffin. A Veteran of the U.S. Navy Reserve during World War II, Mr. Griffin was a mechanic with Griffin Implement and Milling for 15 years and retired as an Equipment Operator with Reliable Construction. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Joyce T. Griffin. Mr. Griffin is survived by his two sons, Brian K. Griffin and wife, Regina, and C. Mitchell Griffin and wife, Rhonda; four grandchildren, Ginger Evans, Bradley Griffin, Josh Self, and Lauren Griffin; and one great-grandchild, Brayden Evans. There will be a graveside service at 10:00 AM Saturday, May 2, 2015, at Lakeland Memorial Park, 1901 Lancaster Avenue, Monroe, NC 28112. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Union County, 700 W.
