Charles Brent Collins

Charles Brent Collins, 83, formerly of Monroe, NC passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at Brookdale Weddington Park in Matthews. He was born in Union County on January 27, 1940, son to the late Jordan Franklin Collins and Martha Alice Long Collins. He is also preceded in death by his brother Don Collins, two sisters, Martha Pressley and Libby Hargett.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 6, 2024, in the Chapel of Gordon Funeral Service, with burial to follow in Lakeland Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave, Monroe, NC 28112.

Brent is survived by his loving wife Paris Laine Simpson Collins, son Chris Collins (Rene’), daughters, Candy Collins (Stephen Curlee), Robin C. Van Bergen (Mike), brother Tom Collins (Sue), sister Jo Ann Cox, and four grandchildren, Caitlin Collins, Liam Collins, Luke Van Bergen, and Alison Van Bergen.

He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend and he held many titles in his life. He loved spending time outdoors and working with his hands. Through the years his interests ranged from racing horses and cars to rolling his own cigarettes. He looked forward to his breakfast meetups with friends and was always up for a cup of coffee. He was fond of a variety of music and was a part of a community group that sang together as his wife played the piano. He regularly spent time on the porch soaking up the sun with his friends. He cherished time with his adult children, and especially his grandchildren. He would light up whenever they visited.

The family would like to thank Weddington Methodist Church and Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church for the visits and ministering. We would further like to thank friends and family for their support and prayers. The family also would like to thank the staff at Brookdale Weddington Park for their care over the last few years as his home.
