Dateline: Monroe, NC Charles Earl Heafner, 84, passed away Monday, December 10, 2012. He was born in Mecklenburg County on July 29, 1928, son of the late William Wesley and Irva Cornwell Heafner. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Frances Heafner, who died March 18, 1996. He served in the U.S. Navy and retired as purchasing agent for Charlotte Pipe and Foundry after 34 years of service. He served as transportation director for Iron Horse Motorcycles and was the president of the Liars Club. He loved golf and was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He served as a great example to live by to his family and friends and will live forever in our hearts. Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at 3:00 PM in Hopewell Baptist Church Legacy Campus, 420 Hopewell Church Road, Monroe, NC 28110, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will visit with friends and relatives Tuesday, December 11, 2012 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Avenue, Monroe, NC 28112. Mr. Heafner is survived by his sons, Mike and wife Nique, Dennis and wife Cindi, both of Monroe, and Ronnie and wife Rena of Oakboro; daughters, Bonnie Haigler, and husband, Vann; and Susan H. Benton, both of Monroe; grandchildren, Kerry, Kolby, Kayla and Luke Heafner, Tiffany and husband Sergio Padilla, Dustin Haigler, Tiffany and husband Wes Roberts, and Brandie Benton; great-grandchildren, Hunter and Chloe Locklear and Gavin Padilla and his canine companion, Clora and many other loved family members.
