Charles Walter “Chuck” Holdsworth of Waxhaw, formerly of Charlotte, passed away peacefully in the early hours of the morning on ST. Patrick’s Day, March 17, 2018. He was set free from the challenges of living with progressive Parkinson’s disease. The past few years had been a test of faith for him and he handled the daily challenges with dignity and tenacity. All those who were blessed to know Chuck will always remember him for his sense of humor. A memorial service will be held 1:00 PM, Thursday, March 22, 2018 in Gordon Funeral Chapel, 1904 Lancaster Ave. Monroe, NC 28112. The family will receive friends following the service. Chuck was born March 28, 1951 in Morgantown, WV son to the late Harriett and Charles F. Holdsworth. He was a graduate of Fairmont State College and received his Master’s Degree from UNCC. Chuck was an educator for over 30 years, working in Union County Public Schools as an Industrial Arts teacher, a Careers Education teacher and a school administrator. He positively touched the lives of many students and colleagues during his years at Sun Valley Middle Weddington Middle. Many count themselves fortunate to have known him and been his friend. He is survived by his sister, Rebecca (Holdsworth) Brooks, and brother-in-law, Dr. Robert L. Brooks, nieces, Jennie Brooks of Waxhaw and Julie Brooks of Seattle, WA, nephew Jamie Wagner and wife Lynn of Allen, TX.
