Charles Richard Penegar

Mr. Charles Richard Penegar, 79, of Monroe, NC passed away on Monday, March 31, 2025. He was born on July 7, 1945, in Kannapolis, NC, son to the late Watt Hoyle Penegar and Mildred Liles Penegar. He was also preceded by his wife, Kathy W. Connell, daughter Darleen C. Mullis and brother Hoyle Lance Penegar.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 3816 Morgan Mill Road, Monroe, NC 28110, with burial to follow in Lakeland Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at Gordon Funeral Service and Crematory, 1904 Lancaster Ave, Monroe, NC 28112.

Charles had a bright and cheerful life. He never complained about anything. He was manager for Food Lion and was known as the A & P man!

He is survived by his daughter Terry Connell Davis (Brent), sister, Kay Penegar Stegall and two brothers Joel Penegar (Vickie) and Max Penegar.

Charles is also survived by his grandchildren; Ashton Coppley (Josh), William Davis (Tara), Brittany Casey (John), Morgan Barlow (Michael), Tara McManus (Jacob), Christy Mullis (Scott), Kasey Mullis (Angela); twenty great-grandchildren and sixteen great-great-grandchildren.
