Charles Vann Norwood, 50, died Thursday July 10, 2008 as a result of an automobile accident. He was born April 3, 1958 in Union County to Charles Liddell Norwood and the late Vivian Hinson Norwood. Chuck, as he was known, was Director of Conversion Services at Allvac here in Monroe. He is survived by his loving wife, Sonja Carpenter Norwood, daughter Allison Neal Norwood of Dallas TX, son Charles Franklin Norwood of the home, one sister Donna L. Norwood, two brothers James H. Norwood (wife) Kim, and William Neal Norwood (wife) Joan all of Monroe. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday July 14, 2008 at the First Presbyterian Church of Monroe, with burial to follow at Lakeland Memorial Park. Chuck was an Elder of First Presbyterian Church where he served as chairman of the Stewardship Nomination committee. He also was past chairman of the Union County Community Shelter and served on that board for several years. Chuck was an honorary Eagle-Scout and was in the Order of the Arrow. (Brotherhood), and also was a former member of the Monroe Kiwanis club. The family will receive friends on Sunday July 13, 2008 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Gordon Funeral Cremation Service 1904 Lancaster Ave Monroe NC 28112. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church Heritage Endowment Fund 302 E. Windsor St. Monroe NC 28112, or the Union County Community Shelter 311 E.
