Clara Benton Cook

Clara Benton Rowell Cook, 84, passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2025. She was born August 11, 1940 in Union County, NC. She was preceded in death by her birth father, John Clegg Benton and parents, Lillian Price Privette and Guy Privette. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Richard Rowell, her second husband, Robert Cook and her daughter, Tammy Williams.

She was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church. She loved gardening, sewing and crafting.

A funeral service will be held Monday, July 14, 2025 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Avenue, Monroe, NC, followed by burial in Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends and relatives Sunday, July 13, 2025 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Gordon Funeral Service.

Ms. Cook is survived by her son, Richie Rowell; daughter, Teresa York (Mitchell); brother, Gay Privette (Janice); sisters, Sue Sutton (Grady) and Bonnie Pearson (Mike); grandchildren, Morgan Riles (DJ), Nicole Flake (Matt), Mallory Jackson (Elijah), Cameron York (Brittany), Autumn York (Jake) and Aaron Cooper; great-grandchildren, Abby Riles, Cheyenne Riles, Micah Jackson, Kane York, Isaac Jackson, Amanda Shirlen, Alyssa Flake, Elynn Flake, Ryan Flake and Elias Flake; many nieces and nephews and her fur baby, Bo.
