Claudia Dell (Candy) Helms, 67, passed away May 8, 2017 at Hillsborough UNC Hospital. She was born February 6, 1950 in Monroe, NC, daughter of the late Florence Carnes Brock and Billy James Helms. Candy was a Graduate of Monroe High School and Western Carolina University. Her Career of 25 years was spent providing services to adults and children with special needs. The family will receive friends Monday, May 15, 2017 from 10:30 to 11:30AM in the Chapel of the Mausoleum at Lakeland Memorial Park. A service from the graveside will be held 11:30AM Monday, May 15, 2017 at Lakeland. Ms. Helms is survived by her partner, Sandy Ellsworth of Mebane, NC; her special brother Marc Ellsworth of Burlington NC, step brother Larry Brock and wife Ginny of Matthews; niece Susie Verrill, and nephew Russ Brock, Aunts Linda Jones of Monroe, Billie Purser of Lancaster, Ruth C. Cox and husband Bobby of Monroe; numerous cousins; special friends Laurie McGrath, Chris Elliot, Jamie Jefferies, and Jeff Ellsworth of New York, and very special friend Donnell Richmond and Libby Richmond of Mebane Memorials may be made to Ralph Scott Lifeservices in Burlington NC, or the ARC of NC.
