COLMAN F. CONNEELY

FEBRUARY 27, 1951 - FEBRUARY 20, 2024

Colman Francis Conneely, 72, of Waxhaw, NC peacefully passed away on February 20, 2024, at Union County Hospice House after bravely battling pancreatic cancer for 18 months. Born February 27, 1951 in Galway, Ireland, Colman immigrated to the United States in 1975. On August 30, 1986, Colman married Michelle (Schelly) Conneely with whom he shared many cherished years. Together, they raised their beloved son, Chris M. Conneely (28), who resides in San Francisco, CA.

With a storied career spanning continents, Colman dedicated himself to the hospitality industry early in his career while in Ireland, London, and Paris before immigrating to the United States. He began his career in the United States at Hyatt Hotels in Chicago. Hyatt took him to New York, Columbus, San Diego, Long Beach and Los Angeles as he worked his way up to General Manager. In 1990, he joined Stanford Hotel Group in San Francisco as General Manager and Regional VP, later moving to Charlotte, NC, to manage the Hilton Charlotte Uptown. His career spanned decades, culminating in his retirement in 2013.

Beyond his professional achievements, Colman found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He had a passion for wine collecting, golf, and sports, particularly soccer. He was an avid reader and most of all he enjoyed sharing his love of wine with friends and family. He cherished the moments spent walking with his beloved dog, Cooper.

Colman was preceded in death by his parents, Patrick Conneely and Nora Walsh Conneely, as well as his brothers Paddy and John. He is survived by his loving siblings - Sister Mary Columba Conneely, Nora (Tommy) Mulkerrin, Tom Conneely, Martin Conneely, Michael (Anne) Conneely, Nancy McDonagh, Joe (Kathleen) Conneely, and Maggie (Larry) Lynch - nieces, and nephews, scattered across Ireland, Chicago and beyond.

Colman Conneely's legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew him. His strength and unwavering spirit will be remembered and cherished by all who were fortunate enough to have crossed paths with him.

A family memorial service and celebration of life will be held in Chicago at a later date.
