Cornelia Elizabeth Fenrick

September 18, 1935 — August 5, 2021

Mrs. Cornelia Elizabeth Fenrick was born September 18, 1935, to the union of the late Robert Jackson Sr. and Lucinda Ellis Jackson in Columbia, Louisiana, she was the 10th of 11 children. She passed from us to be with our Lord Thursday, August 5, 2021, of complications from a stroke suffered on Monday, August 2, 2021, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Cornelia moved to Denver, Colorado after graduating Union Central High School in May of 1954, joining three of her seven sisters. There she earned her nursing certificate. While working at The General Maurice Rose Memorial Hospital she met the love of her life and married Calvin Jorden Fenrick on August 29, 1958, in a full military ceremony followed by the symbolic passage under the Arch of Saber into their new life. After Calvin finished his military career that same year they relocated to Chicago for a short period and then on to Santa Clara, California where Cal accepted a position at The National Aeronautics and Space Administration. Though only two of their children (Antoine and Pierre Lance) were born of their union, they were also parents to Margaret Roquemore, Laura Wilson, Douglas (Janet) Wilson, Patrick Wallace along with several other foster children. Later having moved to Cupertino, Cornelia tended to many children as well as her grandchildren Ayana and Latara. They enjoyed gardening and grew various fruit trees including avocados. In August of 2000 they moved to the Columbus, Ohio area, following Calvin’s retirement after 43 from NASA, to be near their grandchildren and then in 2014 relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina. Cornelia lived a full and blessed life surrounded by family and friends. She was an avid collector of fine China as well as Thomas Kincade artwork. She enjoyed traveling the world, having been to Germany, the Netherlands, London, Hawaii, Alaska and enjoyed many cruises as well. She also enjoyed sports, especially basketball and hockey (go San Jose Sharks!). She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist church and the Democratic party. She will be remembered by those she loved for instilling ideals regarding the importance of a good education and the finer things in life. She joins her parents Robert and Lucinda, siblings Ashia, Charlotte, Issac, Rosia, Pluma, Faulkner, Ida Lee, Lucille, Zula, and Robert, and beloved first-born Antoine in the heavenly realms and is survived by her soul mate Calvin, her son Pierre Lance Fenrick Lieutenant Colonel US Army (ret) (Lisa), grandchildren Ayana, Latara, Pierre Jorden, William, and Morgan and a host of nephews, nieces, and grand nephews and nieces.
