Cortni Carriker Schenker

February 28, 1981 — August 20, 2021

On Friday, August 20, 2021, Cortni Carriker Schenker, loving wife, daughter, sister and mother of three went home to be with the Lord at age 40. Cortni was born on February 28, 1981, in Monroe, NC to Reginald and Pamela (McGee) Carriker. Cortni showed a love for life and adventure early on, jumping from the high dive as a small child, rafting and traveling with scout friends, and snow skiing while she attended Appalachian State University. Visitation will be held at 6:00PM to 8:00PM Sunday, August 22, 2021 at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Hwy., Monroe, NC 28112. Funeral services will be held at 3:00PM Monday, August 23, 2021 at Benton’s Cross Roads Baptist Church, 109 E. Lawyers Rd. Monroe, NC 28110, followed by internment services at Lakeland Memorial Park. Cortni was a lifelong member of Benton’s Cross Roads Baptist Church where she grew to know and love the Lord. Growing up, she actively participated in Sunbeams, GA’s, Acteens and Youth Ministry. As an adult she faithfully served working in the sound room and teaching children during Sunday School, Children’s Church, Wednesday night activities and Vacation Bible School. She could often be found using her gifts and talents in arts and crafts in ministry to children. Cortni attended Appalachian State University to study Computer Information Systems where she met her husband, Chris. Family was very important to Cortni and she cherished making memories and traditions. She once again used her talents in crafts, decorating and cooking to make holidays, birthdays and special occasions memorable. She was a devoted wife and mother and dedicated herself fully to her family. Cortni is survived by her husband of thirteen years, Chris Schenker, and their three children Daxton (9), Declan (6) and Raley (1), her parents, brother Kylen Carriker, sister-in-law Delia, and nephews Kelyn and Kenly all of Monroe. She is also survived by her mother-in-law Carol Schenker of High Point, NC, sister-in-law Jennifer Schenker and brother-in-law Nick Rush of Greensboro, NC. She is preceded in death by her grandparents Martin and Myrtle McGee and Sandy and Vernie Carriker and her father-in-law, Michael Schenker. She is survived by a large and loving extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins who have many cherished memories of time with Cortni. Memorials may be made to Benton’s Cross Roads Baptist Church, 109 E Lawyers Road, Monroe, NC 28110. The family greatly appreciates the outpouring of love and support they have received.
