Dale Reena Hargett, 67, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2015. She was born on March 9, 1948 daughter of the late Howard Vann and Florie Holshouser Hargett. She was also preceded in death by her adoptive parents, Bevin “ D.B.” and Dezzie Blagburn, brother, Howard Vann Hargett, Jr., and special “sister-cousin”, Shirley Blagburn. Dale was a graduate of Monroe High School, Wingate Junior College and worked in high school and college as a waitress and after college as an accountant. She recorded several songs in 1970 including “Follow the Lamb” and “Other Days” under the name Rachael and The Strawberry Shepherds. She also sang locally with The Union Symphony Chorus and The Union Chorale. Dale loved her God, friends and animals, enjoyed cooking, flower arranging and gardening. The family will receive friends Saturday, May 30, 2015 from 12:30 until 1:45 PM at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC 28112 followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM in the Gordon Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. Dale is survived by nieces and nephews, Tamara Higgins (Jim), Tiffany Waters (Ashley), Howard Hargett, Tara Parker (Bryan), Michael Hargett, Samantha Cheeseman, Donald Kilgore and many cousins, also special “sister-friend” Mary Nash.
