On September 20th, 2016, Dana Couick McGuirt ended her 7-year battle against breast cancer. Dana was born February 19, 1964 the daughter of James Harold and Caroleene Helms Couick. She graduated from Parkwood High School in 1982, attended North Carolina State University and graduated from High Point University. Dana married her soul mate, William L. McGuirt on August 9, 1986 and they enjoyed over 30 years of happiness together. Dana had the pleasure of working with her Dad in the family business at TA Materials Handling in Pineville, NC and continued to run the business after his death. Spending time with family and friends was the upmost priority in Dana’s life. There was nothing she enjoyed more than making new memories with the people she loved. She enjoyed shopping with her Mom, deer hunting, recreational shooting, weekends at Lake Wateree and Camp Meeting at Pleasant Grove each summer. Dana never met a stranger. She found the best in everyone she met and accepted them without judgment. Her laughter was contagious and could fill any room. Everyone knew she was a beautiful, funny and artistic person. No one loved life more than Dana. She displayed grace, dignity and extreme courage, even when facing life’s challenges. We will miss our Dana. The void in all our hearts will be enormous. How lucky we are to have loved someone that makes saying goodbye so hard. Dana is survived by her husband William L. (Bill) McGuirt, mother Caroleene Helms Couick, brother David Scott Couick, nieces Molly Nicole Couick and Grace Anna Couick, nephew Aubrey Jacob Couick and bother-in-law Ronald T. McGuirt. Dana was preceded in death by her father James Harold Couick, grandparents Aubrey Couick and wife Maude Couick, Norman Helms, Lycaonia Secrest Parker and husband William Lee Parker, father-in-law Lonnie T.
