David Edward Fry

June 25, 1967 — May 31, 2021

David Edward Fry, 53, of Monroe, NC went peacefully home to his Savior the Lord Jesus Christ on Monday, May 31, 2021, surrounded by his family after a three-year courageous battle with Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). David is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 19 years, Christine Fry, and his beloved children, Jake (17), Gracie (15), Luke (13) and Cooper (11). David is also survived by his mother Linda (Warren) Fry and brother Donald Fry of Grovetown, GA, along with many aunts, uncles and cousins. David was blessed with many close friendships throughout his personal and professional life including his best childhood friend Sean and his wife Donna Confer, godchildren Seth Confer, Hunter and Caroline Reynolds. He was preceded in death by his father, Bruce Anthony Fry. A devoted husband, father and philanthropist, David founded SEC General Contractors in 1997 as Fidelity Construction and built his business in North and South Carolina. David’s passion for improving lives in our community included the building of Gracie’s House, in honor of his daughter, which serves as the office and fellowship space for families in the West Boulevard neighbor. He was also involved in Good Fellows, who provides assistance to families in financial crisis, and Big Brothers-Big Sisters. In May, the community rallied behind David and held the Fry Homerun Derby benefiting ALS of Charlotte raising more than $27,000 for research in finding a cure. David graduated with a degree in civil engineering from The Georgia Institute of Technology and a Masters of Business from Queens College. David was a proud graduate of Evans High School in Evans, GA, where he played varsity football and track and was a member of FCA (Future Christian Athletes). David loved coaching his sons’ baseball and basketball teams as well as playing golf with his sons and friends. His happiest times as a father was watching and participating in Jake, Gracie, Luke and Cooper’s activities and family trips to Kiawah Island and spending time in the mountains at Mt. Mitchell. Christine and the children would like to thank the many friends that took time to visit, reminisce, laugh and praise the Lord in his final days. A heartfelt thanks to Dr. McCluskey, Dr. Brooks, Scott Holston, Amber Ward, Rachel Hillberry, Shivangee Thorne and Velma Langford of the Neuroscience Institute of Charlotte for their unending care, expertise, and support of David. Special thanks to Hannah Jones and Santiago Gomez of Med Emporium and Derrik and Rebecca Johnson of Stalls Medical & Adaptive Vans. A very deep thanks to his kind-hearted nurses Natalie Rogers, Rachel Johnson, Dave Palamountain and Tracy Johnson from Hospice and Palliative Care of Charlotte for their guidance and comfort during his final days.
