David Porter Hagerty

David Porter Hagerty, 84, of Monroe, passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born October 13, 1936 in Findlay, Ohio, A son of the late Harold and Bernice Leichty Hagerty. Dave graduated in 1954 from Vanlue Local School where he was third in his class. He graduated from The Ohio State University, class of 1958 with a Bachelor's in Argricultural Sciences. He was a member of the Alpha Gamma Sigma, and served in the United States Army from 1960 to 1962. Funeral services will be held 12 Noon Saturday, December 26, 2020 in the Gordon Funeral Chapel, with burial to follow with military honors in Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Saturday from 11:00 to 11:45 AM at the funeral home. Some of his volunteer activities include Atrium Health Union Hospital, Union County Habitat for Humanity, Meals on Wheels in Westminister, MD, Carrol County Food Sunday, Westminister, MD, a member of the Jaycees of Carroll County, MD, President of the Sykesville Rotary Club and qualified for the Paul Harris Fellow, and served on the Election Board for Union County. Dave liked to see the success from volunteer organizations. Dave is survived by his wife, Sue Jessee Hagerty, two sons, Eric D. Hagerty (Shelley) of Charlotte, NC, four daughters, Mona Wratchford (Gene) of Westminister, MD, Judy C. Braddock of Punta Gorda, FL, Kathy Maczka (Eduardo) of Matthews, NC, Connie Fry (Jeff) of Monroe, two brothers, James Hagerty (Becky) of Vanlou, OH, Tom Hagerty (Mary) of Finlay, OH, a sister, Martha Pauli (Ed) of Virginia Beach, VA, seven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
