David Lee McDonald Jr., 81, of Charlotte, NC passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2026. He was born in Union County, NC on July 21, 1944, son to the late David Lee McDonald Sr. and Verla Edwards McDonald. He is also preceded in death by his loving wife, Kay Graham McDonald and brother, Tracy McDonald.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 PM until 1:45 PM at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC 28112.

David is survived by two daughters, Monica Broom (Randy), Melissa Tweed (Jim), four grandchildren, David Broom, Michaela Broom, Austin Hamilton, Brittany Tipton, six great-grandchildren, Maverick Broom, Allison Hamilton, Colton Tipton, Natalie Tipton, Mackenzie Tipton, soon to arrive, Peyton Hamilton, and a brother Elwood McDonald.
