David C. Trull

August 18, 1955 — April 17, 2006

Mr. David C. Trull, 50, of Monroe, NC died Monday, April 17, 2006 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. David was born in Monroe, NC on August 18, 1955, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James C. Trull. He is survived by his wife, Marie Helms Trull; son Justin David Trull; daughter Candice Trull Newton; brothers Troy Trull and Jimmy Trull; sisters Syble Trull Phifer and Jo Ann Aycoth; and one grandchild, Zackory Newton, all of Monroe, NC. In early 2004, David’s health began to fail him with the rapid onset of ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease). David’s name alone means “Warrior” and he put up a good fight to the very end. Prior to that, he lived a full and happy life. David was a family man with strong work ethics. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and friend. Loving his children more than anything, he worked hard to provide for them and see that his family’s dreams would come true. Candice was “Daddy’s Little Girl” and could do no wrong (in his eyes). She stood by his side and along with her Mom took care of him in the end better than anyone else could. David always enjoyed a day on the golf course with Justin. His famous words to Justin were, “Leave My Tools ALONE…Will ya?” With no enemies, he was a much-loved and respected man of God. He never met a stranger and people were drawn to him because of his charisma, compassion for others and integrity. He was truly a man of his word. He was not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ and never missed an opportunity to share it with others. He loved the Lord and would lift his hands and voice to testify to that. Even in sickness and death, he knew God was in complete control. The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 19, 2006 at Gordon Funeral Chapel, 1904 Lancaster Avenue, Monroe, NC from 5:00-6:45 PM. Funeral services will be held immediately following the visitation. Burial will be Thursday, April 20, 2006 at 10:00 AM in Crown Memorial Park, Pineville, NC. Well, David, you fought the good fight and by now I’m sure you’ve heard the words we all long to hear, “Well done, My good and faithful servant”. Thank you for the life you led and the lessons you taught us. We will miss you. It’s never easy to say good-bye and if we had it our way, we wouldn’t have to. You didn’t deserve the pain, but everyone knows you did deserve heaven and we can’t imagine what you are seeing right now. Oh, how we will miss you and your smiling face. We will hurt every day, but we know you finally “Got Where You Were Going” and we look forward to seeing you again. Wait for us, will ya? We’ll see you soon.
