Delores retired from the Union County School system after 25 years, where she had been a baker at Parkwood Middle School. She would often see people that would tell her that they remembered her hand-rolled biscuits or her no-bake oatmeal cookies that she seemed to be famous for. She took pride in taking care of children. After retirement she took every opportunity to bake even if it was just to give away. She said it made her happy that people enjoyed what she made. Delores was a member of Corinth Baptist Church in Monroe. She enjoyed going to church and had grown up around most of the other church members that she felt were like family. Delores and Joe have three children, Gary Sutton (Bonnie) of Burnsville, NC, Wayne Sutton of Monroe, NC, Rebecca Sutton of Monroe, NC; four grandchildren, Krista Jill Marshall (Ronald) of Georgia, Kimberly Sutton of Burnsville, Zach Sutton of Monroe, Weston Sutton of Monroe, and three great-grandchildren.
