Dennison Arthur Davis

Dennison Arthur (D.A.) Davis, 79, of Monroe, NC, passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2023. He was born in Union County, NC on November 19, 1944. He was the son of the late Winston Arthur Davis and Clara Hamilton Davis. He is also preceded in death by his son Paul Davis.

D.A. is survived by his wife Kathy Davis, son, John Davis (Leah), daughter-in-law Kristen Davis, daughter Mandy Baucom, two brothers, Rodney Davis (Julie), and Edward Davis (Debbie), and six grandchildren, Luke Davis (Kendra), Hannah Davis, Drew Davis (Hailey) Samantha Davis, Ryder Baucom, and Audrey Baucom.

D.A. served his country in the 82nd Airborne. After his military service, he pursued construction, where he eventually started his own company and later began developing property. He successfully continued this line of work for the duration of his life.

While D.A. had a passion for business, he also cherished spending time with his wife and family. He loved working in the yard along his wife’s side, or simply sitting with her and enjoying her company. Away from home, D.A. loved being on the beach or in the mountains.

D.A.’s passion for fishing was almost as strong as his passion for business. Fishing was a lifelong hobby of his; he always enjoyed time on the water, whether it was spent relaxing or competing in local tournaments.

Known by his loved ones as “Papa”, D.A. loved to host huge cookouts - the more to attend the better. Most of all, he loved being with his family, whether it was having breakfast together or simply sitting on his back porch sharing his stories or hearing about their lives. These memories will forever be cherished.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, December 14, 2023, in the Chapel of Gordon Funeral Service, with burial to follow in Lakeland Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 PM until 1:45 PM at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC 28112.
