Dianne Godfrey

Dianne Bethune Godfrey, 78, of Waxhaw, NC passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2024. She was born in Guilford County, NC, on June 22, 1946, daughter to the late Graham Bethune and Thresa Ellison.

An absolutely amazing woman she was. Her relationship with the Lord was her passion. Dianne took immense pride in her family and friends and especially her grandchildren. She will always be remembered for her gentle love and selfless character. The love of her life was her husband, David and they recently celebrated 53 years of wonderful marriage.

Dianne served as a church secretary for more than 33 years at West Monroe Baptist Church. This was more than a job to her; it was a mission for serving her God.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at First Baptist Church of Indian Trail, 732 Indian Trail Fairview Road, Indian Trail, NC 28079, with burial to follow in Waxhaw Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 PM until 1:45 PM in the church sanctuary.

Dianne is survived by her loving husband, David Godfrey; sons, Kevin Godfrey (Beth), and Joe Godfrey (Shannon); two brothers, Dr. Christopher Ellison and Larry Bethune (Cindy); sister, Suellen Purvis (Jeff); three grandchildren, Kendall Godfrey, Molly Anne Godfrey, and Grady Godfrey, as well her fur baby Hazel.
