Don Wilson Brooks

Don Wilson Brooks, 89, of Monroe, NC passed away on Monday, October 6, 2025. He was born in Union County, NC on July 12, 1936, son to the late George Wilson Brooks and Genevieve Brewer Brooks. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Dennis Brooks and sister, Deane Mungo.

Don served in the community and was Fire Chief of New Salem VFD for over twenty-seven years. He was also a barber for over fifty-two years in Wingate. He was a faithful member of New Hope Baptist Church where he served in various capacities.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00PM on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at New Hope Baptist Church, 5928 New Salem Rd, Marshville, NC 28103, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30PM until 2:45PM in the church fellowship hall.

Don is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Doris Baucom Brooks, daughter Donna Moore (Steve), grandson, John Mark Moore (Charli), and three great-grandchildren, Lincoln Moore, McKinley Moore and Watson Moore.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made by donors’ choice.
