Don Belk Murray

Don Belk Murray, 80, of Monroe, NC, passed away on Monday, June 19, 2023. He was born in Union County on April 16, 1943, son to the late Rowland Thornton “R.T.” Murray and Joy Belk Murray.

Don lived by a few rules - love and take care of your family, work hard, always do what you say, and cheer for NC State teams, even when they are awful. Go pack! He loved Union County, loved building, and cherished his lifelong friends.

The family will receive friends and family from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at Gordon Funeral Service and Crematory, 1904 Lancaster Ave, Monroe, NC 28112.

Don is survived by his wife Beth Lawrence Murray, his three sons, Matt Murray, Mark Murray, and Will Murray (Hannah), his two daughters, Leah Chandler, and Carson Murray (Gena Edens), brother, Ted Murray, and five grandchildren, Autumn Chandler, Chelsea Murray, Sylvia Edens Murray, Aubrey Murray, and Nicholas Edens Murray. He is also survived by a large number of nieces and nephews.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to the Habitat For Humanity of Union County, 3702 Old Charlotte Highway, Monroe, NC 28112.
