Donald “Don” Lee Moore, 93, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2026. He was born in Union County, NC on March 30, 1933, son of the late Roy Moore and Daisy Tyson Moore. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Jean Tarlton Moore, and two sons, Greg Moore and Marty Moore.

Don’s faith was a meaningful part of his life. He was a longtime member of Mt. Carmel Church, where he worshipped and shared many years with his church family. His love for the Lord remained with him throughout his life, and he found comfort in knowing that one day he would be reunited with those who had gone before him.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, October 2, 2026, at Mt. Carmel Church, 1712 Carmel Church Rd., Monroe, NC 28112, with burial to follow at Lakeland Memorial Park, 1901 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC 28112.

Don is survived by his brother, Lofton Moore; his six grandchildren, Amber Flowers (Nick), Erin Holland (Jamie), Christian Moore (Maranda), Kacey Moore, Victoria McWhorter (Jake), and Rainey Keating (Johnny); seven great-grandchildren, McKenlee Flowers, Sawyer Flowers, Carter Jean Moore, Cannon Moore, Sadie Moore, Emi Kate Moore, and Grady Holland; and two more great-grandchildren on the way.

Throughout his life, Don was a hardworking and successful entrepreneur, owning and operating several different businesses. He took great pride in his work and in providing for his family, but some of his greatest joys came from the simple things in life. He loved his family dearly and especially enjoyed spending time in his garden, tending to his plants and watching things grow. He was always proud of what he grew and could never pass up a good, fresh tomato—especially when it made its way onto a tomato sandwich.

Don also enjoyed watching NASCAR and college basketball, with Duke basketball holding a special place in his heart. These simple pleasures, along with time spent with his family, brought him great happiness throughout his life. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

His love for his family, his faith, his hardworking spirit, and his appreciation for the simple pleasures of life will remain a lasting part of his legacy.
