Donald "Don" Reid

Dateline: Weddington, NC Mr. Donald Eugene Reid “Don”, beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend, 76, of Weddington, NC passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 19, 2013 in his home surrounded by his family. He was a native of Union County, and born July 28, 1936 son of the late Bradley Stacy Reid, Sr. and Margaret Gordon Reid, he is also preceded in death by a brother, Bradley Reid, Jr. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army. Don was retired from dairy farming, where he had worked hard for over 60 years with his father and brother. He was a kind man and completely devoted to his family. He enjoyed working outdoors and watching NASCAR racing. Don was married to the love of his life, Brenda Bridges Reid, for over 50 years. He is survived by his wife, Brenda and their two children, Donna Reid Pressley D. Scott Reid, both of Weddington, his daughter-in-law, Karen Woodward Reid and granddaughter, Staci Marie Reid, both of Monroe, NC; sister-in-law, Beverly M. Reid, of Weddington, sisters, Dorothy R. Matthews, of Weddington, Edith R. Gathings, of Charlotte, Virginia “Jenny” R. Cook and husband Edward, of Indian Land, SC and several special nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 1:00 PM in Gordon Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service. The family would like to extend a special thanks to all the doctors and nurses at CMC Main and CMC Pineville, as well as the staff of Hospice Palliative Care.
