Donald Burrell Sr. Pressley

Donald “ Burrell” Pressley, Sr., 80, passed away Saturday, December 27, 2014 at his residence. He was born October 18, 1934 in Union County son of the late Samuel Houston Pressley, Sr. and Sally Mae Medlin Pressley. He is also preceded in death by his first wife, Carolyn Hill Pressley, a brother, Paul Pressley, Sr. and a grandson, Joseph “Jay” Pressley. Mr. Pressley was a retired truck driver and enjoyed traveling the United States in his RV. He loved fishing at Carolina Beach and meeting new friends. He is a member of Midway Baptist Church in Wingate, NC. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at 11:00 AM in Gordon Funeral Chapel, 1904 Lancaster Ave. Monroe NC 28112. Burial will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. He is survived by his wife Joan Smith Pressley, son, Donnie Pressley (Janice), a daughter, Sharon Long (Roger) all of Wingate, brother, Sam Pressley (Carolyn) of Wingate, five sisters, Rachel Drake (Gene), Mary Nance (Parks), of Monroe, Laura Little, Sun City, SC, Judy Hinson (Dwayne), of Wingate and Donna Shaw (Lawrence), of Winnsboro, SC, stepsons, Stephen Smith, of Marshville, Tim Smith of Wilmington and Kent Smith of Charlotte, grandchildren. Caty Pressley Shirley (Jonathon), Corey Long, Brody Long, Brock Smith, Michelle Beacham, Arizona Smith, and great grandchildren, Ethan Avila, Sawyer Shirley, Josie Shirley and Marley Wineshanker. Also, sister-in-law, Pat Hill Thomas of Monroe and special friend of the family, Lisa Leone of Charlotte. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 at Gordon Funeral Service.
