Donald Ray Baucom

Donald Ray Baucom, 81, of Monroe, NC entered into eternal peace on May 15, 2020. He was born December 12, 1938 in Union County, son of the late William Clarence and Etta Helms Baucom. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Melvin, James and Howard Baucom and sisters, Myrtle Mullis and Linda Baucom. Don fought a long and courageous battle after suffering from a stroke many years ago. Don loved Carolina basketball and was a loyal Tarheel fan, he loved watching old westerns and spending time with his family. He attended New Testament Adult Day Care of 25 years, and this was his home away from home. He made many friends there and was always so happy to see them. A private service has already been held. Mr. Baucom is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Patsy Hyatt Baucom, sons, Jeffery Baucom and wife Elizabeth of Oak Island, NC and Jerome Baucom and wife Diane of Monroe, NC, daughter, Jatana B. Hildreth of Matthews; grandchildren, Tanya Bailey (Michael), of Holly Springs, NC, Kristina Hinson (Trent), of Monroe, Raven Baucom (Josh) of Lancaster, SC, Jacob Baucom of Monroe and Conner Baucom, of Monroe; six great-grandchildren; brother, Thomas Aldon Baucom (Lois); sisters, Dorothy Maples, Edith Walker (Joe), Mo-he Arrington, Wanda Rowell and Kay McManus (Dan); and sisters-in-law, Janice and Betty.
