Doris Jean Johnson, 61, passed away Friday, June 12, 2009. She was born in Mooresville, NC on January 9, 1948 daughter of the late James K. and Mary Phifer Hooper. She is also preceded in death by a brother James B. Phifer. As a youth, Doris was a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church in Mooresville, NC. She gave her life to Christ at the age of 11, and was baptized at the Macedonia Baptist Church in Taylorsville, NC, living most of her youth in Mooresville until age 14 when her parents relocated to Alexandria, VA. While living in Alexandria, she joined the Mt. Jezreel Baptist Church, and she graduated from Parker-Gray High School in June of 1965. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM, Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church, 503 Maurice St., Monroe, NC 28112, with burial to follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. She is survived by her loving husband Preston Johnson, whom she was united in Holy Matrimony on November 23, 1968 at the Mt. Jezreel Baptist Church, before relocating to Baltimore, MD. From the union of marriage God bless them with two lovely daughters Dawn Renita Johnson of Monroe, NC, and Patricia Dionne Alexander of Charlotte, NC, more added blessings from the Lord were three precious grandchildren, Timothy Michael Johnson, Tyler Christopher Alexander, and Paris Tiphany Alexander all of Charlotte. Other surviving family members are two brothers Joe Phifer of Mooresville, NC, and James K. Hooper, of Greensboro, NC.
