Doris Virginia Smith Helms, 88, passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2014. She was born July 3, 1925 in Union County, NC daughter to the late Charles William and Margaret Gordon Smith. She is also preceded in death by her husband Grover C. Helms and brothers and sisters Faye, Ruby, W., George, Mary Lee, Kathryn, and Lucille. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Thursday at Gordon Funeral Chapel, burial to follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends following the service. She is survived by five sons Jimmy Helms (Ursula), of Collenburg, Germany, David Helms (Linda) of Longs, SC, Charles Helms (Jo Ann) of Ft. Mill, Mark Helms (Jayne) of Stokesdale, and Michael Helms (Molly) of Monroe, a daughter Ellen Helms Lester (Michael) of Unionville, a brother Bobby Smith of Ft. Mill, one sister Margie Hamilton of Fort Mill as well as 11 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren.
