Dateline: Indian Trail, NC Dorothy Cunningham “Dot” Austin, 85, passed away Thursday, September 29, 2011. She was born in Union County, NC on February 12, 1926 daughter of the late Julius Fred and Lona Byrd Cunningham. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. Saturday, October 1, 2011, at Sardis Baptist Church 3602 Unionville-Indian Trail Rd., Indian Trail NC, 28079, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Austin was preceded in death by her husband Varon L. Austin and a brother J. F. Cunningham, Jr. She is survived by a son, Randy Austin of Locust, a daughter, Patricia Diane Simmons of Monroe, brothers, Julius Carroll Cunningham of Indian Trail, Winfred Cunningham of Monroe and Donald Jackson Cunningham of Matthews, also 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
