Dorothy Collins Price Connell MONROE - Dorothy Collins Price Connell passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 13, 2013 at CMC Main after a brief illness. Dorothy was born in Union County, NC on July 28, 1928 to Henry S. and Lessie Presson Collins. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband of 48 years Clegg Price, and her second husband of 14 years Glenn Connell who died on March 13, 2013; brothers Boyce S. Collins and Tommy E. Collins. Dorothy was known for her beauty and style, always dressed to perfection. She began her career in the textile industry. In 1960, the family moved to Charlotte where she managed the new Cato Store at Amity Gardens Shopping Center. This leadership position was a precursor to a Supervisory position for the Reception Desk at Charlotte Memorial Hospital. She finished her career as a Dental Assistant for Dr. Russell Rogers in Matthews where she was a highly-regarded and dedicated employee for 30 years. Dorothy was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Monroe. She is survived by her son, Michael Price and wife Eve of Norfolk, Va.; daughter, Gwenn Gilbert and husband Butch of Monroe; grandson Dustin Price and great-grandson Colton Price of Norfolk VA., and grandson Joshua Price of Wilmington, NC. The family will greet friends at a visitation on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Gordon Funeral Service in Monroe from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Connell will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, June 16, 2013 at Calvary Baptist Church in Monroe with Pastors Eddie Price and Steve Jirgal officiating. Interment will follow at Benton's Cross Roads Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 2518 Lancaster Hwy, Monroe, NC 28112, the American Heart Association, 222 S. Church St., Suite 303, Charlotte, NC 28202 or the Council on Aging In Union County, 1401 Skyway Dr., Monroe, NC 28111.
