Dorothy “Dot” Reid Matthews, 89, of Waxhaw, passed away Friday, May 7, 2021. She was born May 31, 1931, daughter of the late Bradley Stacey (B.S.) & Margaret Gordon Reid. She is also preceded in death by her husband Herman Matthews, Sr., a son Lane Matthews, and two brothers: Bradley Reid, Jr., & Donald Reid. She retired from Employers Mutual Companies in 1993 following 36 years of service. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at Weddington United Methodist Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends and family following the committal service at the cemetery. Mrs. Matthews is survived by her son, Herman Matthews, Jr. and wife Selena, of Monroe, daughter-in-law Kimberly Matthews of Charlotte, two sisters Edith Gathings and Virginia Cook, four grandchildren: Aaron and wife Emily, Drew, Gracie, and Abby.
