Dorothy Jean Starnes

May 6, 1932 — April 13, 2022

Dorothy “Jean” Price Parker Starnes, 89, of Monroe, NC died after a brief illness Wednesday evening, April 13, 2022 at Atrium Health Union.

Mrs. Starnes was born on Friday, May 6, 1932 to the late Wade Hampton and Bernice Lula “Moore” Price. On November 15, 1952 in Union County, NC she married her loving husband Andrew “Jack” Parker who preceded her in death September 25, 1995. Later at 70 years old, she married, Eli “ER” Starnes who died on June 14, 2011.

After graduation of high school, she moved to Charlotte, NC and resided there for 16 years, returned to Monroe, NC where she lived the remainder of her life. She was a faithful member of Union Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years. She was a seamstress and retired from Piece Goods Fabrics.

Mrs. Starnes leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving children, Pamela Jean Parker and Ronnie J. Parker and his wife, Bobbie Jo, both of Monroe, NC. She is also survived by her step-son, Richie Starnes and three step-daughters, Cindy Osbourn and her husband Mitch, Jeannie Engle and her husband Mike, Bridget Martorano; brother, Bruce Jack Price and his wife Jo, of Monroe, NC; a sister Jessie Kathryn Price of Charlotte, NC. She will be missed by her loving granddaughter Christina Dawn Parker and a step-grandsons, Jonathan and Cody Smith along with six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her two husbands and parents she is preceded in death by her two brothers, Dowd Price and Boyce Price, a sister Linda Price.

A service to celebrate Mrs. Starnes life will be 2:00pm Saturday afternoon, April 16, 2022 at Union Baptist Church, 4312 Old Pageland Monroe Road, Monroe, NC 28112, the family will receive friends in the church from 12:30pm until 1:45pm. Burial to follow in Lakeland Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be offered on behalf of Mrs. Starnes to Union Baptist Church Cemetery or to the charity of the Donor’s choice.

Jean will be forever missed by her loving family and friends.
