Douglas Larry Simpson

Douglas “Doug” Larry Simpson, 58, passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2015. He was a native of Union County, NC, born on June 12, 1957. Doug was the son of Beadie Deane Tomberlin Simpson and the late John Dowd Simpson. Doug was a dedicated employee for McGee Brothers of Monroe for 33 years. Doug enjoyed spending time riding his John Deere zero-turn lawn mower, washing his vehicles and listening to bluegrass music. He was also an avid UNC Tarheel fan, and enjoyed major league baseball and NASCAR racing. The most important thing for Doug was loving and providing for his family. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Shiloh Advent Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Doug is survived by his mother, Deane Simpson, of Monroe, his wife, Tina Smith Simpson, daughters, Jennifer Nicole Simpson Palmer, Stephanie Danielle Simpson Rottgen, sisters, Donna Lynn Simpson and Debbie Simpson Purser and husband, Kenneth, twin brother, Michael Derry Simpson and wife Donna McGee Simpson, all of Monroe, grandchildren, Justin Logan Palmer, Jordan Brantley Palmer and Avery Lillian Rottgen. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC 28112.
