Dr. Earl ""Mac"" Griffin

Dr. Earl McCray “Mac” Griffin, Jr., 70 passed away Thursday, January 8, 2015. He was born on November 12, 1944 son of the late Earl M. Griffin Sr. and Dorothy Louise Wallace Griffin. He planted, pastored and served many churches in the area, served as the elder of Monroe Baptist Fellowship and president of Emmanuel Theological Seminary. Dr. Mac preached the gospel of Jesus Christ for 52 years. His final public address was, “God is Faithful”. Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 11, 2015 at 3:00 PM in Fellowship Baptist Church, 902 Rocky River Rd. S., Monroe, NC 28112. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn East Cemetery. Dr. Griffin is survived by his wife, Fonda Ann Jolly Griffin, sons, Earl McCray “Chuck” Griffin, III and wife Penny of Indian Trail, Anthony Douglas “Tony” Griffin and wife Kimberly Horne Griffin of Monroe, brother, Boyce Richard Griffin of Indian Trail, sisters, Sharon Griffin Smith of York, SC, Teresa Griffin Lawson of Ft. Mill, SC, grandchildren, Corey Joseph Griffin of Monroe, Jacklyn “Jackie” Griffin and Emily Griffin, both of Indian Trail. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC 28112.
