Earl Tice

Earl Rogers Tice, 89, passed away Friday, March 2, 2012. He was born in Union County, NC on March 24, 1922, son of the late Oscar Pernay and Mary Rogers Tice. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Knox Tice. Mr. Tice served with the U.S. Maritime during World War II. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church for over 40 years, where he served on the Administrative Board and the Board of Trustees. He served on the Board of Union County Commissioners for 8 years. He retired from State Farm as an insurance agent after 38 years. He was a past member of the Civitan Club, was a Mason, a Shriner and member of the Union County Shrine Club. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 5, 2012 at 11:00 AM in Central United Methodist Church. The family will visit with friends and relatives from 9:30 to 10:45 AM prior to the service at the church. He is survived by sons, James Wyatt Tice and wife Beth of Monroe and Thomas E. Tice and wife Marsha of Greensboro, NC; daughter, Linda Moses of Monroe, grandchildren Donica Taylor, Amy Taylor Allen, Michael Tice, Christopher and Allison Tice and two great-grandchildren. The family would like to offer a special thanks to caregivers Lori Griffith, Cathy Nesmith and Bernie Krauss and the hard work and dedication of Cindy Stebbins. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church, 801 South Hayne Street, Monroe, NC 28112.
