Edith Aline Hause

Edith Collins Hause, 89, passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2023. She was born December 11, 1933, in Rock Hill, SC, daughter to the late Ernest Orell and Violet Daisy Smith Collins. She is also preceded in death by her husband James Luke Hause, her son Stephen Hause, and her brother Kenneth Collins.

A memorial service will be held later this year, with a burial in Waxhaw City Cemetery. The announcement of the service will be published once dates are set.

Edith was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She graduated from Columbia College in 1956. She was a schoolteacher for several years before she joined the staff of her alma mater, Columbia College in Columbia, SC in 1974. She worked as both a volunteer and staff at the college from 1974 until 1999 and served in various positions, including VP of Development and Alumnae Relations. She was a passionate advocate for the college and made many lifelong friends of fellow classmates, colleagues, and students over her many years of involvement.

She is remembered by her family and friends for her warm and quick smile, her outgoing, optimistic, and generous nature, her infectious laugh, and her loyalty and love for those around her. She was a giver and a force of nature!

She is survived by her daughter Felicia Hause Friesen, husband Bryan, and four grandchildren: Anna Huber (Reece), Claire Friesen Maru (Julian), Joel Friesen, and Will Friesen, and sister-in-law Janie Davis Collins.
