Edythe (Bradford) Hardin

February 9, 1953 — August 22, 2017

Edythe Bradford Hardin, 64, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in York, SC on February 9, 1953, daughter to the late Clarence Rodney Bradford and Margie Montgomery Bradford. She also is preceded in death by her high school sweetheart of 41 years of marriage, Rev. Bobby E. Hardin, two sisters, Linda Ferguson Lynn Collins and brother, Stephen Bradford. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Trinity Baptist Church, 2613 Concord Hwy, Monroe, NC 28110, with internment to follow at Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 25, 2017 from 6 PM until 8 PM at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave. Monroe, NC 28112. Being one of nine children, she grew riding horses and playing with her sisters and brothers. She graduated from York Comprehensive High School in 1971 and from Wingate College in 1990. She was a teacher for 23 years and taught at Benton Heights Walter Bickett Elementary. Edythe poured her life into her family as well as her church families, the latest being Trinity Baptist of Monroe. She was a Sunday school teacher for many years, teaching many children and adult classes. She was an active member of her school family dining club, book club, and the Monroe Garden Club. In the weeks preceding her death, she was cared for by the loving staff of Carillon Assisted Living, Garden Place, the staff of Duke Neuroscience ICU and the amazing staff of Hospice House of Union County, and her close friends. Her family will forever be grateful of the love and care the staffs and friends showed their mother during this time. Mrs. Hardin is survived by son, Rodney Neal Hardin, wife Tami of Stallings, daughter, Stephanie Hardin Williams, husband Galen of Monroe, two sisters, Judy Adkins of McConnells, SC, Nan Beaty of Garden City, SC, four brothers, Tommy Bradford of Rock Hill, SC, Monty Bradford of Bessemer City, NC, John Allen Bradford of Lake Wylie,SC, and Bobby Hull of Clover, SC and many nieces and nephews. What brought her most joy was her grandchildren, Molly Hardin, Frazier Williams and Turner Williams will always and forever love their Gigi. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials to be made toward Trinity Baptist Building Fund. Gordon Funeral Service Crematory is caring for the Hardin family.
