Elaine (Hunter) Rodgers

April 28, 1941 — December 22, 2016

Elaine Hunter Rodgers, 75, of Monroe, passed away Thursday, December 22, 2016. She was born April 28, 1941, in Kershaw, SC, to the late J.T. and Ruth Hunter. Mrs. Rodgers was a 1959 Graduate of Kershaw High School and obtained her Associates Degree from Columbia Business College. Quiet and reserved by nature, she loved to spend time with her family, especially with her grandson; wherever he wanted to venture, she was always ready. Always proud of her grandson's accomplishments, she was most proud to see his graduation from Clemson University in December 2016 with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. Mrs. Rodgers is survived by her husband, Aron Rodgers; daughter, Pam Rodgers Dickins and husband, John S. Dickins, of Matthews; grandson Cameron Dickins of Central, SC; sister, Judy Shealy of Lexington, SC; and aunt, Shirley Robinson of Rock Hill, SC. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, December 27, 2016, in the Gordon Funeral Chapel, 1904 Lancaster Avenue, Monroe, NC 28112. The family will greet friends and relatives following the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Union County, 700 W. Roosevelt Boulevard, Monroe, NC 28110 or Levine Cancer Institute-Race Complex Cancers Fund, c/o Carolinas HealthCare Foundation, 208 East Boulevard, Charlotte, NC 28203.
