Elaine Rowe Walters

Dateline: Greenville, SC Elaine Rowe Walters of Greenville, SC, died peacefully surrounded by family at NHC Greenville on Saturday, April 21, 2012. She was 87 years old. She was born in Melbourne, Australia on June 23, 1924. There she met and married Marine Captain Roy L. Walters in 1943. They resided in Monroe, NC until their retirement years in Sneads Ferry, NC. She was predeceased by her husband on September 10, 2006. Those left to cherish her memory include daughter, Sara Hartnett of Greensboro, NC; daughter, Kit McClure of Wilmington, NC; son, Cam Walters and his wife Becky of Greenville, SC; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Elaine was formerly an active member at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Monroe. She was most recently a member of St. James Episcopal Church of Greenville, SC. In Monroe, she particularly enjoyed promoting and instructing ladies tennis. Those who knew and loved her best, remember her beauty, love, Australian accent and cooking. We would especially like to thank the staff at NHC Greenville for their love and care over the past 6 years. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at 2:00 PM, at the Walters Family Cemetery, Landsford Rd., Monroe, NC.
