Elaine Wright

Elaine Thomas Wright, 83 went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at The Pearl of Fort Mill in Fort Mill, SC. She was born in Anson County, NC June 8, 1939, daughter of the late Carl W. and Wilma Taylor Thomas. In addition to her parents, Elaine was preceded in death by her first husband James (“Jim”) Weir, sister, Shirley Thomas Suggs, brother-in-law, Jerry Suggs, and nephew Wesley Suggs.

Elaine was a graduate of Union High School and Durham Technical College and had worked in the accounting dept of several businesses before her retirement. In their earlier years together, she and her first husband lived in Charlotte, NC, Harper’s Ferry VA, and Durham NC. After her daughter graduated from college, she relocated to Monroe, NC. She enjoyed traveling, flower gardening, beach life, shopping, and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed playing piano, and played piano/organ for her church in Durham, as well as, taught a Sunday School Class while there.

Elaine is survived by her husband, Bobby Wright; her daughter Jacqueline and husband Blake Aldridge of Rock Hill SC, her son, James Eric Weir of Columbia SC, her stepdaughters: Annette (Jackie) Helms, Terry (Tim) Furr, and Sherry (Eddie) Horne, her stepson Rob (Reannon) Wright, her ten step-grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and her brother, Landon (Sherry) Thomas of Monroe, NC.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at Benton Heights Presbyterian Church, 2701 Concord Hwy, Monroe NC 28110 where Elaine was a faithful member. Burial will follow at Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends and family prior to the service from 1:00 PM until 1:45 PM in the church sanctuary.

The family would like to thank the staff and employees of The Pearl of Fort Mill and the Staff of Agape Hospice of Rock Hill.
