Obituary

Elizabeth (Lib) Long Taylor passed away peacefully on December 22, 2025, in Bonita Springs, Florida, just four days shy of her 96th birthday. Born on December 26, 1929, in Union County, North Carolina, Lib lived a long and meaningful life marked by faith, grace, and kindness that left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Known for her beautiful smile and outgoing personality, Lib brought warmth and joy into every room she entered. Her deep love for her family was evident in the way she nurtured relationships across generations and remained a steady presence in their lives. Lib was a lifelong member of Benton Heights Presbyterian Church, where she served faithfully as a Deacon and as a long-standing member of the choir. Her devotion to her church community was unwavering; she dedicated countless hours to service and fellowship, embodying the values of compassion and humility throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Litz Henry Taylor; her cherished daughter, Penny Taylor Redwine; and her sisters Betty Jo Castle, Lillian Walter, and Ann Funderburk. Their memories remained close to Lib’s heart throughout her life. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Beth Taylor Mumford (Jim); her sisters Brenda Long Gaddy (Gerald) and Vivian Long Belk (Tilden); grandchildren Erin Redwine McRoberts (Jay), Mandy Redwine Lockner, Taylor Sparks Sullivan (Chris), and Austin Redwine (Carey); as well as eight cherished great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to her later years. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026, at 02:00 PM at Benton Heights Presbyterian Church, 2701 Concord Highway, Monroe, NC, with inurnment to follow in the church columbarium. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00PM until 1:45PM in the church sanctuary. Memorials may be made to Benton Heights Presbyterian Church.
