Dateline: Monroe, NC Emma Jean Howard, 81, died Wednesday, January 30, 2008. She was born in Union County, NC on October 31, 1926 daughter of the late Charlie and Pearl Griffin Howard. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 1, 2008 at 2:00 PM in the Gordon Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. Mrs. Howard was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Frank Howard and a son, Gene A. Howard. She is survived by a son, Shot Howard, a daughter, Penny Howard, brother, C. B. “Frank” Howard, all of Monroe, 3 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 1 step great grandchild. The family will receive friends on Friday prior to the service from 12:00 until 1:45 at Gordon Funeral Cremation Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC.
