Emma Lou Lowdermilk Patterson, known as Lou, passed away on Saturday, February 5, 2022 in Marietta, GA. She was 87 years old and born in Asheboro, NC, on March 9, 1934 daughter to the late Clendon Stedman Lowdermilk and Dora Mae Kearns Lowdermilk.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Central United Methodist Church, 801 South Hayne Street, Monroe, NC 28112, with inurnment to follow in the church columbarium. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00pm until 1:45PM in the church.

Lou married the love of her life, Fredrick Brocton Patterson (Bob) in 1954. They had been married 64 years when Bob passed in 2018. They began their married life in Chapel Hill while Bob finished his college degree at UNC. They moved to Elizabeth City, NC after the birth of their 2 children, Penny and Brock. The family finally settled in Monroe, NC in 1969. Lou enjoyed being involved with the Special Olympics, The arc of Union County, and her church, Central United Methodist. She often gathered with many friends from her church.

Lou was preceded in death by her daughter, Penny Lu Patterson, her husband, Fredrick Brocton Patterson, her brother, Max Lowdermilk and her brother-in-law, Bob Benbow.
She is survived by her son Brockton Patterson, her daughter-in-law, Lisa Patterson and her sister, Reba Benbow and her granddaughter, Linden Patterson.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to The Arc of Union County, 1653 Campus Park Drive, Monroe, NC 28112.
