Emma Arlee (Griffin) Witmore

Emma Arlee Griffin Witmore, age 78, devoted and loving servant of Jesus and her family, peacefully entered into her eternal home on August 21, 2017 at the Novant Hospital Huntersville, NC. Arlee was born in Wingate, NC July 6, 1939, the beloved daughter of the late Roy and Kathleen Griffin. After graduating from Union High School in Monroe, she worked at Dixie Tag Label in Charlotte and retired from Delmar Studios in Charlotte. Everyone that came in contact with Arlee was blessed by her unconditional love, contagious smile, joyful laughter, genuine kindness, and her sweet gentle spirit. She leaves a legacy of love for Jesus, love for family, and love for people. She was a role model to many through her encouraging words, her warm inviting home, and the peace she had no matter what her circumstances. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, whether at the beach, shopping, cooking meals, or just hanging out at home, she instilled the importance of being together, sharing life, making memories, and storing up treasures in heaven. She is forever loved and cherished by her family and friends. Arlee is survived by her beloved children: daughter, Sherrie Howell and husband Rick of Statesville, NC; daughter, Patricia Brooks and husband Terry of Concord, NC; son Scott Witmore of Stanfield, NC; son, Rodney Witmore and wife Penny of Monroe, NC; six grandsons, two grand-daughters; eight great grandchildren, and three sisters: Alice Little of Monroe; Margie Kluttz of Concord; and Jeanette Griffin of Wingate. In addition to her parents, Arlee was preceded in death by her great grand-daughter Harper, brothers; Heath, Eugene, and Frank Griffin; and sister, Deloris Smith. A service to the glory of God and in celebration of her life will be held on Friday, August 25, at 11am at Gordon Funeral Chapel Monroe, NC with burial to follow at Griffin Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10am to 10:45am.
