Dateline: Monroe, NC Ernest (EB) Bernard Wallace, 95, passed away Friday, February 27, 2015. He was born in Mecklenburg County, NC on January 13, 1920 son of the late Ernest Baskerville and Bessie Jane Gilburt. Mr. Wallace was a conductor for the railroad and a US Army veteran serving in the Infantry during WW II. He was awarded four bronze service stars and a Purple Heart with one oak cluster. He fought in the battles of Normandy, Ardennes, The Rhineland, and Central Europe. The family will receive friends Sunday, March 1, 2015 from 12:30 until 1:45 PM at Mineral Springs UMC Family Life Center, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM in the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Full military honors will be conducted. He is survived by his wife, Gerry House Wallace and three daughters Leslie Tucker (Jerry), Lynn Wallace, and Amy Vick (Lew) all of Waxhaw. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mineral Springs UMC, 5915 Old Monroe-Waxhaw Rd, Monroe, NC 28112.
