Ervin Pressley was born on October 7th, 1936. On November 14th, 2025, after 89 years of an abundant earthly life, Ervin began his unspeakably joyous eternal life, forever in presence of the Lord and Savior he loved.
Born in Union County, Ervin was the son of the late Sam David Pressley & Nellie Griffin Pressley. He is preceded in death by two brothers, Sam Pressley Jr. and Harold Pressley, a sister Faye Johnson, and a son-in-law Franklin Victory Jr.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 68 years, Shirley Springs Pressley, with whom he built a life filled with joy. He’s survived by his son, Steve Pressley, his daughter Vickie Victory, two grandchildren- Danielle Massey (John) and Pastor Jason Victory (Shaina), six great-grandchildren- Carson Massey, Avery Massey, Willow Victory, Hudson Victory, Charli Victory, and Olive Victory, and three sisters- Lorraine Medlin, Janice Carnes, and Johnsie Plyler. He is greatly missed by those who loved him dearly.
While we are grieved by Ervin’s passing, we rejoice in knowing that the primary focus of Ervin’s obituary is not that he died, but that he lived. Ervin was the patriarch of a family that he grew out of sheer love and determination. A product of the pull-yourself-up-by-your-own-bootstraps generation, Ervin did exactly that. He married the girl he met at church. He faithfully raised his children. He started his own company, Pressley Drywall, in 1967 and ran it expertly until his retirement. He watched his grandchildren grow up in the house behind his and he didn’t miss a thing. He served as a deacon of his church and a Sunday school teacher for many years. He held great grand-babies, watched them grow, even shared a birthday with one.
In health you could find Ervin planting, gardening, growing and harvesting right from his yard. The veggies and flowers were just the byproduct of a man that knew how to cultivate good things- business, family, love, faith. Ervin knew how to grow things well. He spent his whole life doing it.
As we remember Ervin, we’re comforted to know that on November 14th, as he concluded a life on earth that he’d meticulously grown, he also harvested the fruits of his labors and merely passed into a life more abundant than even he could have imagined. We praise the Lord for the faith he grew in Ervin. And we rejoice with him over his eternal glory.
Well done good and faithful servant.
