Dateline: Monroe NC Ethel Crook Plyler, 83, passed away Friday, December 26, 2008. Born in Union County March 12, 1925, she was a daughter to the late Carl V. and Annie Belle Yarbrough Crook. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, working with flowers in her garden, and spending time with her loving family. She is preceded in death by her husband, Banks Albert Plyler. A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Monday, December 29, 2008, in Gordon Funeral Chapel with burial to follow at Wolf Pond Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Plyler is survived by two sons, Victor B. Plyler and wife Joyce, Milburn B. Plyler, all of Monroe; one daughter, Beth P. Clontz and husband Mitchell of Monroe; four grandchildren, Brandon Plyler, Kerry Plyler, Devin Clontz and wife Tiffany, Allison Richardson and husband Alston; two great-grandchildren, Ava and Hailey Clontz; one brother John Crook of Monroe, five sisters, Joann Phillips of Monroe, Doris Austin of Marshville, Carlene Courtney of Monroe, Sarah Gerlach of Hilton Head, S.C., and Eva Black of Birmingham Ala.
