Eugene Barbee, 82, passed away Monday, February 23, 2015. He was born on September 26, 1932 in Union County, NC son of the late John O. and Maude Taylor Barbee. Mr. Barbee was a U S Army veteran, a city mail carrier with the US Postal Service, in Monroe and was the former owner of Flowerland Florist. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 26, 2015 at 3:00 PM in Union Grove Primitive Baptist Church. Burial with military rites will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. Mr. Barbee is survived by his wife, Joan B. Barbee, son, Mitch Barbee and wife Katie of Charlotte and grandchildren, Taylor and Jonathan and a great grandchild, Carter. He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC 28112.
